I had the pleasure of attending one day of Austin City Limits. It took a little while to get in due to fire in the place. After getting through that cluster and inside, it was all about getting to the stage we wanted to be in front of by traversing the human obstacle course composed of chairs, blankets and “campsite crap” to make it nice and annoying for all involved. The first show we made it to in earnest was Blonde Redhead- very nice! The weather was hot and humid so hydrated and rested a bit after that.
Next was LCD Soundsystem, Mr. James Murphy was having a ball and it showed. The attitude and energy was great, he definitely did a wonderful job entertaining. Considering the heat and short time frame, the set was very memorable. Impressive, the live recreation of the electronic post punk disco had too be exhausting, especially on the drummer- who James did help a bit. This was the highlight of the day.
We also saw Spoon, Gotan Project and Bjork- but after LCD Soundsystem it all seemed less impressive than it could have been on their own.
